Naked veterinary students pose for saucy charity calendar

Students entering their final year of the Veterinary Science Class at James Cook University in Queensland, Australia, have honoured what is fast-becoming a time honoured tradition of getting naked for an outdoor photoshoot.

The peculiar ritual first began in 2015, as a way for the students to raise money for their Graduation Ball. A percentage of the proceeds also goes to a charity chosen by the students.

Like the students before them, this year’s daring students braved the Australian outback to pose in the raw wearing nothing but boots and cowboy hats.

Some of the students are pictured riding off through a field on horse back, while another shot shows a young woman sitting naked on a rock, looking pensively out to  sea with a dog by her side.

The calendar, entitled Vets Uncovered, will this year be rasing money for the aplty named Burrumbuttock Hay Runners – a charity helping Australian farmers in times of severe drought.

Just like last year, the cheeky pictures were snapped by photographer Vicki Miller.

The group’s website says: “The Graduation Ball is the perfect way to finish up the five gruelling years of vet school and couldn’t occur without this project.

The Class of 2018 are very proud to announce that the chosen charity for this year’s project is the Burrumbuttock Hay Runners. The Runners do vital work in helping-out farmers in times of severe drought and are a truly deserving charity made up of ‘a bunch of blokes trying to help out fellow Aussies in times of hardship’.

“All the students involved had the best time getting their gear off for a couple of great causes and worked hard to get the calendar together with the help of a very patient and talented photographer and an extremely creative graphic designer.”

Despite the light-hearted nature of the photoshoot, the calendar had raised some important issues in the past.

Last year’s group stripped off to raise awareness of depression – which affects a high number of vets working in remote parts of Australia.
