Lindelof signed for Manchester United in a £30million deal earlier this summer and made his competitive debut in the 2-1 Super Cup defeat to Real Madrid.
However, the Sweden international failed to impress, with Jose admitting he made a mistake starting him too soon.
He’s yet to feature for United since and failed to even make the bench for two of their three Premier League games so far.
But the 23-year-old insists he is enjoying life under Mourinho and expects to develop under his guidance.
Lindelof told VNL: “We have good talks, he’s a very good coach and I think I will develop enormously under him. So it feels good.”
Asked about Mourinho’s decision not to select him so far, he added: “I don’t know. I’ve just arrived at the club, I’ve been there for less than two months.
“So it’s a process. The last week of training went very well and I feel I’m getting into it more and more.
“The initial period is very important to get to know the club and everything around it, all the players, coaches and the system. So it’s been a very important time for me.
“Of course you always want to play, but the competition is tough with very good players so we’ll see what happens.
“But of course you always want to play.”
