New York has a population of 19.85 million people and it is viewed as one of the most important states in the midterm elections.
It is largely considered to be a Democratic stronghold as Democrats have won all 19 elections to statewide offices that have occurred since 2002.
However, things could be about to change.
But which candidates are being touted to win at each level?
Senate

The State of New York has two seats in the Senate and only one is up for election on Tuesday.
Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand and Republican Chele Farley are going head-to-head for the seat.
Ms Farley, who has never held elected office, served as New York City finance chairwoman for the state Republican Party.
Ms Gillibrand was a congresswoman representing an eastern New York district and was appointed to the Senate seat when Hillary Clinton was nominated secretary of state by President Barack Obama.
A Siena College poll released this month showed Ms Gillibrand with a big lead over Ms Farley: 61 percent to 29 percent.
House
All 435 seats in the House of Representatives are up for re-election.
New York has a total number of twenty-seven seats and it appears the chance of winning for the Democrats is “solid”.

Two seats are ‘solid’ Democrats – Sean Patrick Moloney and Adriano Espaillat.
Two seats are ‘likely’ Republicans – Tom Reed and Daniel Donovan.
Two seats are ‘solid’ Democrats – Carolyn Maloney and Nita Lowey
Two seats are ‘likely Republicans – Lee Zaldin and Elise Stefanik
Governor
When it comes to re-electing its governor, Arizona is expected to remain Democrat.
Democrat Andrew Cuomo has a 99.2 percent chance of winning compared to just 0.1 percent by Republican rival Marc Molinaro.
