Chris Thile – Thank You For Listening review

This superb new solo album, the largely autobiographical Thank You For Listening, is closer to the agile musical surrealism of his band Punch Brothers, each track distinguished by his nakedly honest vocal work, shifting from jazz to gospel to a’cappella as the story unfolds.

Two tracks in particular – I Made This For You and Stanley Ann, about his parents – are perfect demonstrations of how Thile can dazzle you and break your heart at the same time.
