Verdansk Returns to Call of Duty: Warzone in Season 3
The eagerly anticipated moment for Call of Duty: Warzone enthusiasts has arrived with the return of the iconic Verdansk map. This favored battleground is rejoining Warzone as part of Call of Duty Season 3, which commenced earlier this week. Following the successful launch of Season 3, publisher Activision is now set to reintroduce Verdansk to the popular Battle Royale experience, accompanied by a special in-game event offering various prizes.
Return Date and Time for Verdansk
Activision has confirmed via a Call of Duty blog announcement that Verdansk’s release date is April 3rd, with a launch time of 5pm BST in the UK.
“Prepare your Kilo 141, CR-56 AMAX, and HDR loadouts, and redeploy on April 3rd at 9 AM PT, one day after the debut of Black Ops 6 Season 03 on April 2nd!” Activision stated.
This translates to a 9am PT launch time for players on the West Coast of the United States and a 5pm BST launch time for those in the United Kingdom.
“Return to Verdansk” Event Details
The map’s reintroduction is marked by the launch of the “Return to Verdansk” event, exclusive to Call of Duty: Warzone.
Hidden Safes and Exclusive Rewards
Participants in the event will be tasked with locating concealed safes dispersed throughout each of Verdansk’s 12 zones. These safes are rumored to contain unique rewards, including the limited-edition TrailBlazer Operator Skin.
Activision elaborated: “The core objective of this Event is to select a Zone and thoroughly search it for Hidden Safes.”
“Multiple Safes are located within each Zone. You and your Squad can attempt to open as many Hidden Safes as possible during a single match.”
“Each Safe can be accessed only once, and upon being opened, it will trigger a noticeable explosive signal (visible to opposing teams) indicating its compromised status!”
Reward Outcomes
According to Activision, opening a safe can yield three potential outcomes. Players may acquire standard ground loot to aid their progress in the current Warzone match.
Alternatively, with some fortune, squads may unlock exclusive event-themed rewards, including items such as the ‘Letβs Plan Something!’ loading screen, the ‘Back Adjustment’ finishing move, and the ‘With Fries, Please’ weapon charm. Collecting all 12 rewards will automatically grant players the ‘Kali Sticks’ melee weapon.
The rarest and most coveted outcome is the chance to obtain the ‘TrailBlazer’ Operator Skin.
Event Duration and Additional Login Rewards
The “Return to Verdansk” event is scheduled to run from April 3rd until April 15th. In addition to the hidden safe rewards, players will receive six bonus items simply for logging in during this promotional period.
Gameplay Adjustments with Verdansk’s Return
Activision has indicated that Verdansk’s release will coincide with modifications to the gameplay experience. Players can anticipate a more “back to basics” approach to certain gameplay mechanics, notably the game’s omnimovement system.
Omnimovement and Movement Tuning
Omnimovement mechanics will be refined to “better align with the specific characteristics of Call of Duty: Warzoneβs map and engagement dynamics.”
The development team will reduce some of the amplified movement speed and adjust slide friction to evoke a gameplay feel reminiscent of Warzone’s initial launch period.
Launch Features and Future Updates
At launch, Verdansk will accommodate 150 players and will feature the return of the original in-game announcer and introductory cinematics. Players will also have the ability to fire weapons while deploying into the map.
Further enhancements and features are expected to be incorporated in a mid-season update later in the year.
