SAN FRANCISCO – Voyager Technologies has announced its acquisition of LEOcloud, a pioneering startup specializing in space-based cloud computing. The agreement, revealed on April 3, signifies Voyager’s strategic expansion into the burgeoning market for cloud services in space and bolsters its offerings for satellite communications and real-time data processing.
Executive Perspectives on the Acquisition
Voyager CEO Dylan Taylor emphasized the forward-looking nature of this acquisition. “The realm of cloud computing is rapidly extending beyond terrestrial boundaries,” Taylor stated, highlighting the strategic importance of space-based infrastructure in the future of data services.
Dennis Gatens, CEO and founder of LEOcloud, expressed enthusiasm about joining Voyager. In an email statement, Gatens noted, “We are thrilled to become part of the Voyager portfolio as we advance towards new horizons in scaling our vision for space-based cloud services.”
LEOcloud’s Space-Based Cloud Platform
LEOcloud is actively developing its Space Edge micro datacenter, slated for deployment on the International Space Station (ISS). This initiative is supported by the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space, which oversees the ISS National Laboratory. Testing on the ISS is a crucial step towards establishing a robust cloud infrastructure for low-Earth orbit (LEO).
