Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel can rectify £38m transfer mistake after Theo Walcott warning

The Athletic reported back in September that Chelsea can re-sign Livramento for a fee of around £38m; an amount much higher than the paltry sum they received for his services.

But it could be a sum well worth paying sooner rather than later.

Despite Barcelona’s financial problems, a deal for Dest is unlikely to be cheap. And the same goes for any other exciting young full-back around Europe who may interest Tuchel and transfer chief Marina Granovskaia.

Both Tuchel and his predecessor, Frank Lampard, have already reaped the rewards of placing their trust in youth; with a host of Blues academy stars such as James, Mason Mount and Trevoh Chalobah all proving to be pivotal players in Chelsea’s title challenge this term.

Livramento has already shown that he has the scope to slot in seamlessly alongside his fellow Cobham graduates, and £38m isn’t the most excessive sum when it could guarantee the Blues the best years of Livramento’s career given his tender age.

And it could prove to be a masterstroke if Walcott’s verdict on Livramento following Bale’s path turns out to be on the money.

Whatever way you look at it, it seems like a no-brainer for Tuchel and Chelsea to prioritise luring Livramento back to London.
