Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence’s salaries for “Don’t Look Up,” which released a new trailer on Wednesday, reportedly cost a combined $55 million.
DiCaprio, 46, earned a $30 million salary, Variety reported, while Lawrence, 31, received a reported $25 million payday for the dark comedy film.
The two Oscar winners lead Adam McKay’s newest Netflix film alongside an A-list cast. Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Rob Morgan, Ron Perlman, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Kid Cudi, Mark Rylance and Cate Blanchett join the pair in the flick, out on the streaming platform on Dec. 24.
The newest teaser trailer for the movie follows Lawrence and DiCaprio as two astronomers who go on a press tour to warn humans of an approaching comet that will destroy Earth.
The quick clip shows the “Once Upon A Time… in Hollywood” star having a panic attack in a bathroom. The next scene shows Hills’ character telling him, “Your breathing is stressing me out.”
“This will affect the entire planet,” DiCaprio warns. To which Hill responds, “I know; but, it’s like, so stressful.”
“Do you know how many ‘the world is ending meetings’ we’ve had over the last two years?’” Streep asks, who is portraying the president of the United States. “Drought. Famine. Hole in the ozone. It’s so boring,” Hill notes.
Streep, 72, explained in December 2020 to Stephen Colbert how it was “eerie” to shoot the flick during the coronavirus pandemic.
She described the film as “about a global catastrophe, but it’s sort of funny, like ‘Dr. Strangelove’ for 2020, about global warming — a metaphor for that.”
“The whole thing’s so eerie and odd and disconcerting,” she added.
