British AIrways’ owner IAG could close its low-cost French airline, putting 200 jobs at risk.
OpenSkies, which runs IAG’s Level brand in France, last week began a three-month consultation over winding up its operations from Orly in Paris. Before the pandemic grounded its fleet it ran low-cost flights on four long-haul routes, including New York and Montreal.

The news comes after another of IAG’s Level airlines, Austrian-based short-haul carrier Level Europe, filed for insolvency in June.
IAG is trying to stem losses across the group as it burns through around €1billion a month. It is axeing up to 12,000 jobs at BA in a restructuring to help it survive the slump in passenger traffic.
Last week, it announced it was retiring BA’s entire fleet of 31 Boeing 747 jumbo jets, known as ‘the queen of the skies’.
Meanwhile, Richard Branson’s loss-making Virgin Atlantic last week announced a £1.2billion rescue deal that is set to be approved at the end of August.
