A small airplane accident in eastern Nebraska turned fatal Friday night, claiming the lives of three individuals after the aircraft plummeted into a river, officials confirmed. The plane crash occurred near Fremont, along the Platte River, prompting an investigation by federal authorities.
Plane Crashes into Platte River Near Fremont
According to Sgt. Brie Frank of the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, the airplane was flying along the Platte River when it went down south of Fremont at approximately 8:15 p.m. local time. Sgt. Frank disclosed this information during a press briefing on Friday evening.
Recovery of Victims
Authorities have recovered the bodies of all three victims from the crash site, Sgt. Frank stated.
Investigation Underway
The identities of the deceased have not yet been disclosed to the public pending notification of next of kin. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office has indicated that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will spearhead the investigation into the Nebraska plane crash. The crash site is located near Fremont, roughly 37 miles west of Omaha.
