The Rangers boss saw his Colombian striker come off the bench to score his team’s second goal and have an assist in the third that saw off a determined Livingston 3-0 yesterday to take his team to second place in the Premiership.
And Gerrard is adamant that 16-goal Morelos will be going nowhere as long as he has a say in the matter.
“I’ll fight tooth and nail to keep him here for as long as possible,” said Gerrard.
“I’ll fall out with people to keep him here. That’s how much I like him.
“I love him and respect him, but I also understand every player has his price. I want to keep him here as long as possible because he makes my job a lot easier.”

Morelos was booked for dissent, which means he misses the visit to Dundee on December 9, but Gerrard insisted he is partly responsible for the number of cautions he picks up.
He said: “I need to share some of that blame. I’m asking him to be in peoples’ faces and to be aggressive and press and not stop short and really do what other centre-forwards do to our defenders.”
Gerrard was delighted with the win over Livi, courtesy of goals from Daniel Candeias, Morelos and Scott Arfield.
He added: “I’m very pleased for the players. It was a very important win.”
Rangers can go top next week with a win at Tynecastle while leaders Celtic are on Betfred Cup final duty.
