Arsenal vs Manchester City will be called off’ – bookies
Bookmakers believe there is no chance of Arsenal taking on Manchester City tomorrow.
With the Beast from the East taking over London, bookmakers have slashed the price on the match, with is due to take place tomorrow, being cancelled.
The odds have been cut from 20/1 into odds-on 1/5 that the game does not go ahead.
Spokesman Paddy Power said: “The snow is only getting worse in London, and with pictures emerging of the Emirates pitch covered in snow, we reckon the game is done for.”
Big spenders
Arsenal chairman Sir Chips Keswick has promised to keep spending in a bid to challenge for the Premier League title.
Keswick said: “Breaking our transfer record twice in one season and the player contracts we have signed shows our commitment to getting the club back competing for the Premier League.
“However, our strategy remains self-financing and we must accept all the challenges that brings at a time when the inflation of transfer fees, player wages and the fees demanded by agents has become super-heated.
“We need to spend effectively and be the best we can across the whole of our football operations if we are to compete at the level our ambitions for the club demand.”
No Laca…
Manchester United decided not to sign Arsenal star Alexandre Lacazette after taking his penalty record into consideration, reports say.
Manchester United were tipped to sign Lacazette from Lyon back in the summer with Arsenal ultimately forking out a huge £52million to bring the France international to the Emirates stadium.
United, in the end, decided to place their faith in Romelu Lukaku instead, splashing out £75million to prise the striker away from Everton.
Their decision to do so has been justified with the Belgium international plundering 22 goals across all competitions, 13 more than Lacazette who has managed just nine strikes from 27 appearances for Arsenal so far.
And the Manchester Evening News say United chose not to sign Lacazette over Lukaku for a number of reasons.
Among them was the striker’s penalty record.
Many considered Lacazette to be sensational for Lyon last season, with the 26-year-old hitting 37 goals.
However, 11 of those came from the penalty spot and United chiefs reportedly believed his goal tally to be rather inflated as a result.
The MEN say United also received poor scouting reports where doubts over Lacazette’s pace and physicality were expressed.
