Fellaini started in midfield for Roberto Martinez’s men but came off in the 29th minute after receiving treatment on his knee and was replaced by Leander Dendoncker.
Seeing Fellaini come off with a knock is likely to frustrate United boss Jose Mourinho especially with a crunch clash against Liverpool after the international break.
The 29-year-old has filled in admirably for the injured Paul Pogba in central midfield and he scored twice as United beat Crystal Palace last week.
United legend Ryan Giggs praised Fellaini for ignoring his critics and becoming an important player at Old Trafford.
“Marouane Fellaini has really proved his importance, stepping in for Paul Pogba,” Giggs told Sky Sports.
