Destiny 2 PC beta update: Fans MUST do this before release date

2 developer Bungie is about to make the beta available to pre-load on PC.

The  has an August 28 start date for pre-order customers. The open beta starts a day later on August 29.

The shortened PC beta period ends just a few days later on August 31, although it’s possible will extend testing like it did with PS4 and Xbox One.

And to ensure you don’t miss a second of the action, Bungie will make the PC beta available to pre-load ahead of launch.

After signing up for a compulsory Battle.net account, PC owners can download the beta from 6pm UK time on August 26.

The PC beta is almost identical to the Xbox One and PS4 versions, although there have been some gameplay changes.

Fans will also be able to try a brand new map. While PS4 and Xbox One players experienced Control on the Midtown map, PC players will battle it out on Javelin-4.

Bungie has also made changes to matchmaking, scoring and the way the game calculates skill levels.

It now takes less time to charge your Guardian’s Super, and you can expect more grenade damage and increased Power Ammo drops.

Likewise, a number of bug fixes have also been made to the various glitches discovered on console.

“During the console Beta, we learned a lot from the players who entered the Crucible,” reads a Bungie blog post.

“One of our goals for Destiny 2 has been to create two different ways to challenge yourself against other players.

“From this point forward, to allow for more varied experiences between the playlists, matchmaking for Quickplay and Competitive will be tuned separately.

“Along with some other changes to the rule sets for specific game types, these are the moods we want to cultivate in the new Crucible.”

According to Bungie, matchmaking times will be shorter in Quickplay, with less emphasis on Skill.

The winning score in Control has been extended, because matches were previously over too quickly.

Competitive matchmaking will actually take longer, but only because Bungie wants to better match players of a similar level.

Destiny 2 has an October 24 release date on PC, compared to a September 6 release date on Xbox One and PS4.
