Liverpool transfer news: Philippe Coutinho drama before deadline day predicted by Kirkland

Coutinho, 25, is desperate to leave Liverpool to join Barcelona and he’s handed in a transfer request.

But the Reds have refused it and have now turned down three bids from Barca for their star man.

Coutinho is adamant he wants to go and Liverpool are wary that he could release a public statement declaring his intentions to leave.

Barcelona are close to agreeing a deal for Ousmane Dembele from Borussia Dortmund but ex-England and Liverpool keeper Kirkland thinks there will be another offer from Coutinho regardless.

Although time is not on their side with just six days left until deadline day.

He told Sky Sports: “It’s a really tough situation because obviously Coutinho wants to go.

“Barcelona – who wouldn’t want to play with Lionel Messi and Suarez in the Nou Camp?

“Whether them signing Dembele will stop them signing Coutinho, I don’t think so. I think they’ll come in with another big bid.

“But Liverpool have been stern. They have rejected the bids flatly and told them he’s not for sale.

“I still think there’s a bit to run in this one before next Thursday.”
