Stacey Dooley: Strictly Come Dancing star reveals ‘biggest sadness’ in her life

Stacey Dooley, 31, and Kevin Clifton, 36, lifted the Glitterball trophy on Strictly Come Dancing earlier this month after winning the series.

Following their incredible victory, Stacey has spilled all on the “biggest sadness” in her life – which is not having actress Dame Emma Thompson as a friend.

The star made the revelation in response to BBC Radio 1 host, Greg James, who spoke out on Twitter.

Greg, 33, quoted his wife Bella Mackie on the social media site to his 1.57 million followers: “‘The biggest sadness in my life is that Emma Thompson isn’t my friend’.

“- @bellamackie, December 2018.”

Stacey echoed Greg’s wife’s feelings as she retweeted the message to her 248.000 followers on Twitter and added: “Same.”

The star’s fans flocked to her post to say they wish they were friends with Stacey, not Dame Emma.

“My biggest sadness is that @StaceyDooley isn’t my friend,” said one person.

Another added: “Mine is that you’re not mine.”

One fan joked they were friends with Emma as they had the same surname and could put that in touch as they commented: “I am!! If that helps?? Same surname!”

Meanwhile, Stacey reunited with Kevin before Christmas as she spent a night with the star, his sister Joanne Clifton, and her previous celebrity dance partner, Ore Oduba.

Joanne and Ore won Strictly Come Dancing back in 2016, when Kevin also reached the final with Louise Redknapp.

Kevin uploaded a group photo of the four of them to his Instagram page and captioned it: “@bbcstrictly champs @sjdooley @oreodubaofficial @realjoanneclifton.”

The Grimsby-born dancer went on to share a picture to his Instagram mocking his sister over his win.

Kevin posted a snap to his 298,000 followers of himself standing with the Glitterball trophy in front of a Christmas tree.

Joanne could be seen next to him with her arms folded and had a grumpy look on her face.

Teasing his sister, Kevin wrote: “After takin the p**s for two year you’ve gone quiet all of a sudden @realjoanneclifton.”

Replying to Kevin’s post, one person supported the dancer and said: “Kevin you are the best forget about all the rest.”

Another appeared to want Joanne to return to the BBC One show and commented: “We need BOTH Clifton’s on Strictly 2019!! See who really IS the best!!”

A third added: “Great picture – just makes me laugh. Your expressions!”
