Thinking of getting a Pixel 3? You might want to wait for a different Google phone

Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL both improve upon the design from their respective predecessors by reducing bezels and introducing rear glass panels that allow for wireless charging.

Pixel 3 is the smaller of the two smartphones, offering a 5.5-inch P-OLED display instead of the 6.3-inch screen present on the Pixel 3 XL.

The larger Google hardware also has a larger battery, delivering a 3,430mAh pack as opposed to the 2,915mAh unit inside the Pixel 3 XL.

Apart from the disparity in screen and battery size, the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL offer the same specifications.

Both are powered by a Snapdragon 845 processor that is accompanied by 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage.

Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL come with the same 12.2-megapixel rear camera that is arguably the best on a smartphone right now thanks to its sublime combination of great hardware with intelligent machine learning technology.

More importantly, Google is currently discounting the flagship duo on its store for the holiday season, making them incredibly appealing.

Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are both £100 off, meaning the former can be picked up for as little as £639.

However Android fans looking to upgrade their device may want to wait for a cheaper Google handset that has been rumoured to release next year.

Last month Russian outlet Rozetked posted images of an alleged “Pixel 3 Lite” device it claimed could be shown in the “first quarter of 2019”.

Essentially, the product appears to be a budget version of the Pixel 3 thanks to its plastic casing, LCD screen and large bezels.

Most notably, the hardware was shown featuring a headphone jack at the top, a characteristic not present on recent Pixel handsets.

A number of other specifications of the device include a Snapdragon 670 processor, a 5.56-inch display and 4GB of RAM.

It was also noted the device will come with the same camera system as the more premium Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL.

At the time the Russian publication stated the device could cost between $400 (£318.64) and $500 (£398.30).

In addition to a Pixel 3 Lite, it has also been rumoured a Pixel 3 XL Lite is in the works.

And now 91Mobiles, in collaboration with OnLeaks, has produced renders for both pieces of hardware.

Pixel 3 XL Lite was claimed to boast a 6-inch 1080p display that, just like the alleged Pixel 3 Lite, had no notch at the top.

Black and white colours for the products were shown although it is unclear if these will be the only finishes available.

Although the existence or prices of either devices have not been confirmed by Google, those wanting a regular Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL may want to wait and see if a budget option is offered at the start of next year.
