Newcastle looked good for a draw at St James’ Park this afternoon.
But a last-minute Matt Doherty header stole all three points for Wolves.
The defeat stretches manager Rafa Benitez’s run to three games without victory.
And with talk of Ashley being set to sell the club before the January transfer window, fans once again called for the owner to go.
One Newcastle fan tweeted: “We lost to Wolves. In extra time. Can’t even get a point from them. But we have much bigger issues than this. Like #Ashleyout”

On Monday Ashley confirmed he was planning to sell Newcastle after a decade at the helm.
“I am hopeful – for the Newcastle fans, for the club, for everybody, that I will be able to step aside and we will be able to get an owner in that will please everybody,” Ashley said.
“I’d like it to be before the January transfer window.
“Hopefully, we can carry on the good form – the just recent good form – and we can get the deal done.”
Defeat leaves Newcastle 15th in the Premier League table – just three points above the drop zone.
They play fellow survival-battlers Huddersfield in a crunch tie next Saturday.
The Magpies then enter the Christmas period with a home game against Fulham, before trips to Newcastle and Watford either side of Christmas Day.
Benitez’s men then welcome Manchester United to St James’ Park on January 2.
