LeBron James: Cavaliers boss accused of THIS ahead of Lakers game

James left the Cavs in the summer to move West and sign with the Los Angeles Lakers, the second time he had left the franchise.

In the week, James gave an interview to The Athletic, where he stated that he told Gilbert not to trade Kyrie Irving, and was given assurances he would not be traded, only for the move to happen hours later.

When James first left the Cavaliers in 2010, Gilbert attacked the star in an open letter to fans, promising supporters in capital letters that the Cavs would win a ring before the ‘Self anointed King’ does in Miami.

When he left for the second time, however, after winning the team their first NBA Championship, Gilbert was complimentary of James, and said he looks forward to retiring his #23 jersey.

Speaking on Fox Sports, Wright explained that the Cavaliers are now learning what it is like to not have James on their roster.

“I do not believe his team-mates did [take James for granted], I do not believe the fans did, I do not believe the coaches did,” he said.

“But, I do believe that the only person who actually mattered last year, other than LeBron, actually did.

“And that’s Dan Gilbert.

“Sometimes, enormous success in management, in wealth, it can make you a little bit delusional.

“And what we know in Cleveland is that the year before LeBron got there, the year Gilbert took over, they won 17 games.

“LeBron then made them a 60-win team, consistently took them to the NBA Finals.

“Then, reportedly, last year Dan Gilbert says he’s excited to get his team back, ready to get out from under the shadow of LeBron James, they’ve won two games.

“I think the fans will give him a standing ovation tonight.

“And I think Dan Gilbert is realising what life is like in the NBA without LeBron James, is what it’s always been like for the Cavs without LeBron James, and that is awful.”

The Cavaliers are 2-13 this season, and parted ways with JR Smith yesterday after the star claimed the team was trying to lose games in order to get a good pick in the 2019 NBA draft.
