As Pixel 2 prices crash Google releases a huge new update for the flagship

Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL were released by the tech giant last year and delivered one of the best cameras on a smartphone ever.

Both devices came with a single 12.2-megapixel rear sensor that harnessed the power of Google’s clever machine learning technology to produce incredible snaps.

Pixel 2 arrived with a 5-inch AMOLED display while the Pixel 2 XL came with a 6-inch P-OLED panel.

Because the hardware was made by Google, the smartphone duo were some of the first to receive Android 9 Pie.

And although the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have since been announced by the Mountain View company, a number of features on the new flagships are scheduled to debuted on the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.

In fact, Night Sight, a camera mode designed for low-light photography, recently arrived on the Pixel 3 and Google has confirmed it will also feature on the Pixel 2.

Moreover, Google’s AR camera tool dubbed Playground will also come to Pixel 2 devices in the future.

The Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are currently cheaper than ever thanks to an early Black Friday 2018 offer from the tech giant.

Google Pixel 2 can now be picked up for as low as £429, making the device an incredibly appealing option for Android fans.

The incredible Pixel 2 deals come as Google has just released a new update for the hardware.

During the unveiling of the Pixel 3, Google boasted about the product’s Call Screen feature that allowed the Google Assistant to answer calls for users.

The purpose of the function was to deploy the Assistant in the event a potential spam call occurred, allowing the virtual helper to clarify the purpose of the interaction.

After the Google Assistant asked why the person on the other end was calling, the user would then have the option to reject the call, ask further questions, or answer it.

But now it appears the Call Screen feature is arriving on Pixel 2 devices according to Android Police and Droid Life that cited owners claiming they were able to access it.

However, it was noted the feature appears to be rolling out gradually, meaning Pixel 2 phones are slowly acquiring the new addition.

It is worth noting Google’s Call Screen feature is currently only available in the US.

Last month Google insisted it was “working to bring the feature for more languages and countries in the future”, but no firm UK release date has been provided.
