Conor McGregor: Dillon Danis releases statement after Khabib attack at UFC 229

Khabib Nurmagomedov beat McGregor in Las Vegas before jumping out of the Octagon and launching himself at Danis.

It came after McGregor had made a number of comments regarding Khabib’s religion with it reported that Danis did the same at ringside.

Danis and Khabib were both escorted out of the arena while Conor McGregor followed after he was attacked inside the Octagon by members of the Russian’s team.

But Danis has now taken to social media, denying he made an anti-Muslim slur against the unbeaten Khabib.

Danis posted on his Instagram story: “Khabib Nurmagomedov’s fans are attempting to smear me in an effort to justify his actions.

“I have never and would never denigrate anyone’s religion.

“I look forward to the results of the Nevada State Athletic Commission investigation which will reject this bulls**t claim and put the blame where it belongs.”

Khabib’s fight purse has been held by the Nevada Athletic Commission as they investigate the melee that followed the main event in Vegas.

Speaking about his decision to hop the cage, UFC star Khabib said: “I want to say sorry to the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

“This is not my best side. He talked about my religion, my country, my father. He came to Brooklyn, he broke a bus and nearly killed two people.

“So why do people still talk about me jumping over the cage? I have shown respect.

“I told you guys: his whole team and him, they are tap machines. Today he tapped. (I am) undisputed and undefeated.

“This is a respectful sport. This is not a trash-talking sport.

“I want to change this game. You cannot talk about religions and nations.

“This for me is very important. Thank you for waiting for me.

“I know my father is gonna smash me when I go home. Nevada: sorry. Vegas: sorry.”
