Fans are still excited by the revelation that X-Men will be heading to the Avengers universe very soon.
Marvel boss Kevin Feige just confimed that it would make no sense for there to be “two Marvels” once Disney’s acquisition of Fox is finalised.Ā
X-Men fan shave been increasingly worried after constant reporst of reshoots and troubled productions of both the Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants projects.
Hot on the heels of Entertainment Weekly unveiling more set photos from Dark Phoenix, the first trailer has finally been shown.
There had been reports of some materials show at CinemaCon in Barcelona earlier this year but the production has been kept under extremely tight wraps.
Strantely, the first footage official has just been unveiled at an industry event in Russia according to media reports.
Nikita Byrkin from The Flick posted on Twitter: “An epic and mysterious Dark Phoenix trailer has been shown at 20th Century Fox product presentation in Saint Petersburg, Russia.”
Fan were quick to ask for more details.
Byrkin was asked to give a rating for what he had seen. He replied: “Iām not even allowed to give a grade to this trailer.”
When he was pushed for more comments, he simply posted an emoji of zipped lips.
Of, course, the big question is when fans will actually be able to see for themselves.
Since this is being called a ‘trailer’ rather than ‘footage’ or ‘sizzle reel’ it suggests there is a finished promo clip ready for public distribution and there is one date that make the most sense for it to drop online and in cinemas.
The next major superhero or comicbook adaptation hitting cinemas is Sony’s Tom Hardy vehicle, Venom.
With a UK release date of October 3 and October 5 in the US, it would be the perfect platform for the latest Fox X-Men movie.
Venom and Dark Phoenix are well matched as part of a darker direction for Marvel big screen adapations, but are still likely to be overshadowed by the horror-infused New Mutants, if and when that eventually hits cinemas.
