Disney faces more FAN FURY: Has Princess Tiana’s skin been lightened for Wreck It Ralph 2?

The House of Mouse is facing more controversy this week as some movie fans have spotted a Disney Princess with what appears to be lighter skin than before.

A group of Disney Princesses are set to appear in Ralph Breaks The Internet later this year, but The Princess and The Frog lead Tiana’s new look is a problem for some.

Tiana is Disney’s first African-American princess and fans on Twitter are comparing her skin tone and hair colour in Wreck It Ralph 2 to that of the 2009 film.

One fan wrote: “I’m extremely confused as to who this is… was Princess Tiana’s skin tone and dark hair too hard to digitalize?”

Another said: “Tell me why tf Tiana went from being a dark skinned Princess with 4C hair to being a generic light skinned girl with 3C hair?”

While one “corrected” the character, tweeting: “I was very excited for this film and I still am. But I cannot look away from this. So I fixed it.”

The main critical consensus seed to be that Princess Tiana’s features, including her formerly wide nose, have been altered to be more Eurocentric.

Jack Whitehall has faced the wrath of fans on social media too for being cast as Disney’s first openly gay character.

The 30-year-old comedian plays Blunt’s character’s brother in the 19th century set adventure, based on the Disney theme park ride.

And according to The Sun, a source revealed he’s played a “very camp” gay man. This is a huge gig for Jack and has landed him his biggest ever pay cheque.

“But, more excitingly, he is playing a gay man – one who is hugely effete, very camp and very funny.”

Some fans and actors has criticised Whitehall’s casting because he’s straight and since the character appears to be a gay stereotype.

Jungle Cruise is based on the Disneyland theme park ride of the same name. The ride sees fans take a riverboat ride through a dangerous jungle.

Jungle Cruise is set for release in October 2019, while Ralph Breaks The Internet is set for release on November 30 this year.
