Luxury Living Afloat: Crescent Seas Launches Cruise Ship Residences for Permanent Voyage
For affluent individuals seeking an unending vacation experience beyond the typical cruise holiday, a novel concept has emerged. Crescent Seas, a venture established by Russell Galbut, formerly chairman of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, is offering opulent “floating homes” aboard its fleet, albeit at a significant premium. This innovative approach caters to those desiring permanent living at sea, allowing them to circumnavigate the globe in unparalleled comfort.
Exclusive Residences on Regent Seven Seas Navigator
Crescent Seas is introducing its concept of “floating homes” with a forthcoming fleet of cruise ships, the first scheduled to embark next year. Following an extensive refit of the Regent Seven Seas Navigator, a limited collection of 210 private residences will be available for purchase. Residents can commence a remarkable global voyage starting in December 2026. However, entry into this exclusive lifestyle demands a substantial investment, with the most affordable residence priced at €570,000 (over £490,000).
Premium Pricing and Lavish Amenities
Extraordinary Costs for Ultimate Luxury
Adding to the considerable entry price, the most extravagant residences aboard the Regent Seven Seas Navigator reach an astounding €8.8 million (£6.6 million). Furthermore, residents are required to allocate approximately €30,000 (£22,400) annually for food and beverage expenses.
Unparalleled Onboard Experience
Despite the high costs, Crescent Seas, established in March of this year, pledges an unparalleled level of luxury across its ships. This includes gourmet dining experiences at Michelin-inspired restaurants, “6-star” service delivered by white-gloved butlers, and cutting-edge Starlink-powered co-working spaces, ensuring residents enjoy both leisure and productivity while at sea.
Redefining Location: A Home That Travels the World
Location Without Limitation
“As a real estate developer, I understand the mantra of location, location, location. Crescent Seas transcends this constraint,” Russell Galbut stated to The Telegraph.

Global Exploration from Your Residence
“Now, your home is no longer confined to a fixed address – it travels with you, immersing you in the world’s most spectacular destinations.”
Extended Port Stays
Passengers will traverse the globe, visiting diverse ports from Iceland to the Seychelles and Singapore, all while remaining in their own home. Unlike conventional cruises with brief port visits, Crescent Seas ships will offer extended stays of two to three days in each port, allowing residents ample time for in-depth exploration.
Fleet Expansion and Ship Upgrades
Growing Fleet of Exclusive Vessels
Crescent Seas has currently confirmed three vessels for its pioneering venture. These include Navigator, Insignia (formerly of Oceania Cruises), slated for relaunch in 2027, and a third vessel, named The Ocean, anticipated to be completed in 2032. Plans are underway to acquire two additional ships for 2028 and 2029, further expanding the fleet of cruise ship residences.
Insignia’s Multi-Million Pound Refit
Insignia will undergo a substantial over £37 million refurbishment to create 290 residences, priced from £486,000 to £7.5 million. While all cabins will feature cooking amenities, suites will be equipped with full kitchens, providing residents with various levels of self-sufficiency.
Modernization and Connectivity
“Everything will be enhanced,” Mr. Galbut affirmed. “All cabin furnishings and bathrooms will be fully modernized. The ships are already magnificent, but we are committed to making them brand new and contemporary. Whether you are in Alaska, residents can seamlessly conduct business as if they were in their offices in Rome, New York, or Tokyo,” highlighting the seamless blend of luxury living and global connectivity.
Boutique Approach to Shipboard Living
Smaller Ships, Exclusive Community
While major cruise lines increasingly focus on larger capacity ships, Crescent Seas is adopting a different strategy, opting for a fleet of smaller, more intimate vessels, Mr. Galbut explained.
Intimate Community at Sea
“Individuals choosing to reside on a ship desire a sense of community, not to be part of a community of 5,000 people,” he concluded, emphasizing the appeal of a more exclusive and personalized living environment at sea.
