ITV’s The Chase Viewers Express Displeasure Over Repeat Episode and “Dire” Final Chase
Fans of the popular ITV quiz show, The Chase, voiced their frustration shortly after tuning into the latest broadcast. Tuesday’s showing of the programme, hosted by Bradley Walsh, featured four participants facing quiz expert Jenny Ryan. However, audience members quickly realised they were watching a previously aired episode, leading to immediate expressions of disappointment online.
Repeat Broadcast Prompts Viewer Outcry
“Not a new episode. So… GOODBYE,” one viewer posted on social media, reflecting the sentiments of many. Another commentator quipped they might instead “go and walk my imaginary dog” due to the repeat nature of the instalment. Further comments included observations about a contestant being “smartly dressed” for a repeat appearance and questions regarding the scheduling of repeat episodes instead of new content. Even viewers who continued watching expressed dissatisfaction, especially with the concluding quiz segment.
Contestants Progress Despite Programme Repeat
During the episode, Rod, aged 61, was the only contestant eliminated before the final chase round, losing out to Jenny Ryan, also known as “The Vixen.”
Laura, aged 35, the second participant to challenge The Vixen, accumulated a noteworthy £7,000 in the cash builder round. Antonio, aged 41, matched Laura’s cash builder performance, also securing £7,000 for the team.
Keira, aged 21, the youngest contestant, demonstrated strong quiz ability by adding £6,000 to the prize fund from her cash builder round. This brought the team’s total winnings to a potentially substantial £20,000.

“Atrocious” Final Chase Performance Disappoints
Despite the team’s solid performance in the cash builder rounds, anticipation for a thrilling final chase quickly dissipated. Viewers were “bitterly disappointed” as the team only managed to answer nine questions correctly, even with a three-step advantage.
This modest score proved insufficient against The Vixen, who successfully caught the team with over 50 seconds remaining on the clock. Social media platforms were flooded with comments expressing letdown regarding the team’s performance. One viewer lamented the absence of “pass” as a viable option during the final round.
Viewers Criticise “Slow” and “Shocking” Final Round
“Absolutely dire,” declared one social media user, while another concurred, describing the final chase as “Too slow… No rhythm at all. Disappointing.”
Another viewer humorously remarked they felt like they were watching the programme at “0.5 speed.” Further criticisms labelled the final chase “atrocious” and “shocking,” highlighting the widespread negative reaction to the team’s showing.
Defence for Contestants Amidst Question Difficulty
However, some viewers defended the team’s performance, pointing out the challenging nature of the questions posed. “To be fair, there were some tricky questions in there!” one viewer commented, suggesting the difficulty level contributed to the team’s lower score.
The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 5pm
