In a recent interview on Today With Jenna & Friends, Banks, 51, revealed that the plan to relocate to Australia with her partner, Louis Bélanger-Martin, and her son, York, 9, stemmed from her expanding business operations within the nation.
“I operate an ice cream enterprise, SMiZE and Dream,” Banks stated to host Jenna Bush Hager. “My frequent visits to Australia, due to manufacturing a substantial portion of our ice cream at a large local facility and recipe development, fostered my deep affection for the country.”
Embracing Sydney Life: Parks, Harbors and Family Time
Banks recounted that her repeated trips to Australia deepened her appreciation for the nation. She highlighted Australia’s significant ice cream consumption, alongside America and New Zealand, which reinforced her decision. “I felt content there, and recognizing their fondness for ice cream, I proposed to my family, ‘Should we embark on this venture?’ And so, we relocated,” she explained.
Following her explanation for the relocation, Banks presented a video offering insights into her daily life in Australia, showcasing the development of a “3,000-square-foot flagship store” for SMiZE and Dream.

Banks previously indicated her intention to concentrate on her ice cream business after stepping down from hosting Dancing With the Stars.
“My current intense focus lies in business,” she mentioned to TMZ in March 2023. “I believe it’s an opportune moment to transition from the dance floor to the stock market. It’s time for me to dedicate myself fully to my business and entrepreneurial endeavors.”
Banks emphasized that her “passion and dedication” reside in “her business and TV production,” pursuits she found less compatible with the demands of hosting DWTS.
