Gen Z Turns to Tea for Stress Relief, Survey Indicates
A recent study indicates a notable trend among Generation Z: when stressed, they prefer a soothing cup of tea over alcoholic beverages. The survey of 2,000 adults born after 1997 found that 42% would choose tea as a stress reliever, compared to just 23% who would opt for alcohol under pressure. This research underscores the growing preference for tea among young people and highlights its role as a popular and healthy choice for managing stress.
Tea Trumps Coffee as Morning Beverage of Choice
Intriguingly, the research also discovered that tea is the favored morning drink for young people, even surpassing coffee. Traditional English breakfast tea emerged as the most popular selection, followed by chai and green tea.
Tea Parties Gain Popularity as Social Gatherings
Beyond stress reduction, a significant majority (81%) of respondents stated that enjoying a cuppa is an excellent way to socialise with friends, family, and colleagues. The study also highlighted a shift towards more wholesome activities within the younger generation, with a third (33%) choosing a tea party with friends over a boozy brunch (28%).
Rise of Tea Party Popularity
The research further revealed that almost one in three have attended a tea party in the past year. Over six in ten of all those surveyed expressed a desire to attend a tea party, with a quarter of those who have already attended one stating it was more enjoyable than a night out.
