RHONY’s Erin Lichy Responds to Parenting Criticism Over Martini Video
Real Housewives of New York (RHONY) star Erin Lichy has addressed criticism regarding her parenting after a recent social media video sparked debate. The reality TV personality faced scrutiny from commenters who questioned her infant care practices in a TikTok video where she was seen making a martini while holding her newborn child.
TikTok Video Sparks Debate
In the video, posted on April 4th, Lichy, 37, appeared to be enjoying herself while lip-syncing to Diamond DonDada’s ‘She’s Back’. However, viewers quickly focused on how she was holding her baby. Comments expressing concern flooded the post, with some observers suggesting the infant’s head was not properly supported.
- One commenter wrote: ‘Oh my god the baby’s head is just dangling whilst she’s making a martini and Tiktok. priorities girl.’
- Another user posted: ‘Tell a friend to tell a friend how to hold an infant.’
- A further comment stated: ‘I am normally the last person to judge other people’s parenting as mine is not exactly everyone’s cup of tea but honey hold his head up that’s ridiculous.’
Lichy Defends Her Parenting
The RHONY cast member, who joined the show in its rebooted season in 2023, responded swiftly to the wave of criticism. Initially, Lichy reassured commenters, stating, ‘Looks worse than it is promise lol.’ She later elaborated, adding, ‘Also HIS HEAD WAS SUPPORTED. was leaning down a little but like calm your t*ts it was a 5 second video.’
Fans Weigh In on the Controversy
Following Lichy’s response, reactions from fans were mixed. Some defended her, suggesting the criticism was unwarranted and excessive. Supporters pointed out that as a mother of four, Lichy is experienced with infants.
- One fan commented: ‘Everyone commenting about the babies head, are you first time moms? Or moms at all? Lol. it’s the 4th child he’ll survive, she’s done this plenty.’
However, others remained critical, arguing that even if brief, the video still presented an unsafe image. The combination of holding a newborn and making a cocktail particularly drew negative reactions.
- One commenter stated: ‘I think the fact that she’s making a drink while holding her baby like this makes it look much much much worse,’
- Another added: ‘I’m curious to know what looks worse than it is. It’s bad enough she’s holding her newborn like a loaf of bread flopping around, but as she shakes a fresh cocktail??? I’m all for us having our little treats/vices but the glorification of alcohol is so weird.’
Background on Lichy’s Family
Erin Lichy and her husband Abe, 41, recently welcomed their fourth child, Jack Hunter Lichy, on March 30. They announced his arrival with the hashtag #crazyinlove. Lichy had revealed her pregnancy in November 2024, and in an interview with People, she humorously mentioned ‘adding another act to the circus,’ noting that ‘Three versus four kids doesn’t seem so scary.” The couple also has three other children: Levi, approximately 11, Layla, around seven, and Elijah, about four years old.
