Realm Royale beta: When is Realm Royale coming to PS4 and Xbox One?

Realm Royale has built itself a dedicated fanbase on Steam, the only current platform you can play it on.

The free-to-play battle royale third-person shooter is currently in beta on PC and will remain that way for some time.

A lot of new content and features are being added and will continue in the future as the development team work out just what their players want.

There have already been several patches launched since release, some providing more popular than others.

And it looks like Hi-Rez Studios are ready to expand the game to new players, following a big announcement earlier this week.

WHEN IS REALM ROYALE COMING TO PS4 AND XBOX ONE?

A short statement released during E3 2018 confirmed that Realm Royale was coming to PS4 and Xbox One in the future.

No release date was provided at the time, meaning that fans had to wait and see when character-class, Battle Royale game would make its console debut.

And it looks like fans on PS4 and Xbox ONe don’t have much longer to wait.

Hi-Rez Studios have now confirmed that Realm Royale will be heading to consoles next week, in beta form.

During the week of July 30, Realm Royale will become available to play on consoles, albeit in a limited form.

Closed Beta testing will begin next week, but players will need a key, which can be found on the official RealmRoyale.com site.

“Since Realm Royale first released on PC, the top three questions on social media have been

‘Console?,’ ‘PS4?,’ and ‘Xbox?,’” said Rory Newbrough, executive producer of Realm Royale.

“I’m not sure if any of those are actually questions, they were more like demands.

“But we understand our community wants Realm Royale on console, and we’re thrilled to announce console closed beta testing starts next week.”

So while Realm Royale will launch next week on consoles, it will not be available to everyone right away.

This is probably to help avoid server problems, as well as make sure all the major bugs are taken care of.

WHAT IS REALM ROYALE?

Realm Royale shares a lot of the standard battle royale gameplay found in PUBG and Fortnite and adds a few things to the formula too.

At the start of each match, players choose from one of five fantasy classes that define their style of ability-driven combat.

Players can summon a mount to move around the in-game world and use Forges scattered across the Realm to craft Legendary weapons, serving as focal points for conflict.

It should also be noted that people become chickens when they are downed, allowing them to escape death and re-enter the fight.

“Using class-based combat and advanced chicken technology, Realm Royale has truly evolved the battle royale genre,” Newbrough said.

“We’re very thankful for the millions of PC players who have entered the Realm so far, and we’re incredibly excited to share this game with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players very soon.”

According to Hi-Rez, Nearly 4 million people have tried Realm Royale during its first month in Early Access on Steam.
