For a number of months now there have been many leaks and rumours that Luke is in possession of his father Darth Vader’s red kyber crystal.
This is a shard from the Sith Lord’s lightsaber, something that Kylo Ren probably really wants as a Dark Side artefact, like the helmet seen in The Force Awakens.
Earlier this week saw Force Friday II when many toys and collectibles related to Star Wars The Last Jedi were released, with some given teasers of what to expect in the plot.
Now it looks like the rumour that Luke has Darth Vader’s red kyber crystal is true, as it can be seen on one of the Luke Skywalker Funko Pop! figures.
Looking closely at a necklace around Luke’s neck reveals a red stone – surely this is a piece of Vader’s kyber crystal?

Even more intriguing is the fact that it could have a major part to play in The Last Jedi’s plot.
After all, some base cards from the film, released on Force Friday II, included some interesting titles.
Star Wars theorist Mike Zeroh has pointed out how one in particular is called Shards of the Past.
Could this be referring to the red kyber crystal shard? If so, perhaps this will tie in with the rumoured Force back visions.
This something that’s already been seen, when Rey touched the Skywalker lightsaber – which contains a blue kyber crystal – in The Force Awakens.
Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi is released in UK cinemas on December 14, 2017.
