Emmerdale airs explosive Christmas exit for Chloe Harris after death rocks village

Emmerdale’s messy love triangle between Mackenzie Boyd (played by Lawrence Robb), Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) and Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland) finally reached a climax tonight. After her father Harry (Robert Beck) held Mackenzie hostage to avenge Chloe after he messed her around, tragedy ensued.

The events of the episode led to the exit of Jessie after two years in the role of Chloe. Charity accidentally shot and killed Harry as she attempted to rescue Mack.

Negotiating a deal with Charity, Chloe agreed not to report her to the police if she could leave with her baby son Reuben, who was fathered by Mack. He was forced to say a final heartbreaking goodbye to his son as Chloe and Reuben left for good marking the end of one of the most dramatic love triangles in the Dales’ history.

When she first announced her pregnancy, she didn’t reveal the name of the father. However, it later transpired that she and Mack had a one-night stand and the child was the result.

Charity was heartbroken by the deception. She was even more devastated when she discovered that the baby’s middle name was Mack’s surname reinforcing his parentage.

Outside of the love triangle, Chloe’s 24 months in Emmerdale were punctuated with drama.

She discovered that Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) was her biological mum, was stalked by her ex and ended up in a coma after being involved in a horror clifftop car crash before the recent events.

Speaking about her time on the show Jessie Elland said: “I’ve had the best two years of my life playing Chloe and being a part of Emmerdale.

“Over those two years, it never got any less surreal to walk through the stage door at studios or to be stood outside the Woolpack at the village.

“I feel so privileged to have been given this opportunity and to have been trusted with such wonderful storylines.

“I really got to tick off the soap bingo card; giving birth, discovering new family members, a big stunt, a soapy slap, and even a classic back-of-the-taxi exit!

“All while working with, and learning from, incredibly talented people that I’d grown up watching on screen.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30 pm on ITV1, with a hour-long episode on Thursdays.
