Chelsea’s new £31million man Nicolas Jackson claimed his teammates were responsible for his fast start to life with the Blues. 

The Senegalese striker scored Chelsea’s fourth goal in their thrilling 4-3 victory over Brighton in the first game of the Premier League Summer Series in the USA Saturday night.

‘I’m feeling really good here with everybody. So, that’s why I’m performing well every game.

‘You know, when you’re okay with everybody, you perform every game. I’m so happy for the team and everybody.’ 

HIs efforts at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia earned him the Player of the Match award, the first of what he hopes is ‘many more to come.’

Danny Welbeck had put the Seagulls ahead early on, rifling the ball into the back of the net on the half-volley after combining with Kaoru Mitoma and former Chelsea star Billy Gilmour. 

But, despite going down a goal down early on, the Blues would recover shortly after with new signing Christopher Nkunku netting his second goal in two games, flicking the ball in with a cute touch. 

With the scores level at half-time, both sides would miss several opportunities to take the lead before the south coast side side went down to ten men. 

The Blues would take advantage of their additional numbers moments after, with Mykhailo Mudryk belting in a simply sensational half-volley past the goalkeeper from outside the penalty area.

Jackson combined with the Ukranian forward in a slick one-two move to put the ball in the back of the net.  

Conor Gallagher added to the scores in the 72nd minute, before new signing Jackson would break free from the Brighton defense to score his first goal in a blue shirt, making it 4-1.

Brighton attempted to claw it back as Joao Pedro snatched one back from the penalty spot, before later finding Deniz Undav for the Seagulls’ third. 

But the Blues held on to clinch the second win of Pochettino’s reign after their 5-0 rout of Wrexham on Wednesday.
