Square Enix news: Final Fantasy 7 Remake update and Kingdom Hearts 3 release date

Square Enix have at least two games that fans are desperate to find out more about.

While the Kingdom Hearts 3 release date has been given a vague 2018 launch window, fans are still waiting to find out when it might drop.

And it’s the same case for the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Remake, which is going to be a very big game when it launches.

The most recent update for the FF7 release on PS4 comes from a recent event held by Square Enix.

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake is currently making an appearance at the Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Exhibition.

Held from January 22 to February 28 in Tokyo, new image boards from the game are on display.

Some of which have made it online. And while not the best quality, they clearly show some of the progress being made by the development team.

These new Final Fantasy 7 Remake images show scenes from the Sector 5 Church from FF7.

There are also images of how some of the early rebel characters look in-game, or at least did at one point during development.

It follows recent rumours on how Square Enix plan to launch their new FF7 project.

It’s now been claimed the first episode of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be released in early 2019.

The alleged leaker said the first episode could even be released before 2019, and that the Final Fantasy 7 Remake would include a total of three episodes.

This is the same amount of PlayStation One discs the original Final Fantasy 7 game had to be divided across.

Square Enix have already said they would reveal release dates for some major upcoming games before E3 2018.

So a timeline for an announcement before June 2018, and then a release date in late 2018 or early 2019 does tally up.

However, as exciting as these rumours are, they should still be taken with a very big pinch of salt until Square Enix reveal their plans.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is another big Square Enix game that fans are hoping to see arrive in 2018.

While there have been rumours and retail leaks suggesting that the Kingdom Hearts series would finally return this year, there have also been a few recent hints from Square Enix themselves.

A new tweet from the official Square Enix US Twitter account highlighted the game as one which media publication Destructoid were looking forward to seeing in 2018.

The fact that Square Enix are willing to highlight this year as when Kingdom Hearts 3 will be released suggests that it’s a real possibility.

Unfortunately, that’s about as far as you can go with it, as it can’t really be seen as an official announcement, or endorsement.

“Dragon Quest! Kingdom Hearts! Check out @destructoid’s most anticipated games of 2018 and let us know what game you’re looking forward to,” the tweet reads.

Currently only confirmed for PS4 and Xbox One, the popular Square Enix project has seen a lot of delays in its development cycle.

The new launch window does put the Kingdom Hearts 3 release date during 2018, although fans are still waiting for a crucial update on what month it will arrive.
