Expert RIPS Burley’s claim Hurricane Harvey was due to climate change

Hurricane Harvey caused havoc and killed at least 20 people after it struck Texas over the weekend.

Discussing the relief effort, Burley said US President would have the world believe “there’s no such thing as climate change next” after suggesting the money being spent on his proposed wall on the Mexican border could be spent on saving lives in the US.

Brad Blakeman blast back: “Well, I think the jury is out on climate change….”

As Mr Blakeman attempted to finish his sentence Burley interjected to ask if he had “seen what’s going on in Texas”.

The strategist continued: “That’s called weather, we’ve had it for, probably, billions of years, and we’re going to continue to have it.

“But yes, that’s called weather. It’s going to be sunny today in Washington and I think we’re going to get rain on the weekend.”

After Burley asked if he was being “flippant about climate change”, Mr Blakeman continued: “No, you’re being flippant.

“You’re suggesting that the hurricane was caused by climate change, what evidence do you have that shows that is true?”

Burley concluded: “I don’t have any evidence, however, I have spoken to one of your astronauts who said climate change has had some impact on what’s happened in Texas, and as a direct result the weather there is worse.”

Visiting Texas, Mr Trump called for a huge rescue response in the flood-stricken state after it was pummelled by Hurricane Harvey.

Joined by his wife Melania, the President said the US Government would support Texas, and its governor Greg Abbott for all of his help during a meeting in Corpus Cristi.

Mr Trump said: “We want to do it better than ever before.

“This was of epic proportion. Nobody’s ever seen anything like this.”

Mr Abbott praised the President’s response, revealing Mr Trump’s administration had been helping Texas for three weeks prior to Hurricane Harvey hitting.

He said: “The President called me three weeks before and said: ‘Texas, what do you need? How can we help? You can count on us’.

“We can count on the US President and his staff to help.

“I want to acknowledge the very effective way the President and his staff has helped.”
