A new God of War release date trailer was shared during the conference in Paris, which it was confirmed that the new PS4 title would be arriving in 2018.
A full release date wasn’t confirmed but there was an announcement that God of War would arrive in early 2018.

Sony has helped evolved the character and game moving it away from it’s Ancient Greece setting to something more akin to a Norse mythology on top of a completely new approach to the gameplay, which is far less hack and slash. In just one short teaser shown at E3, we’ve already seen some interesting new gameplay mechanics at work.
And the good news is that all this hard work shouldn’t just be for one stand alone shot of action, as Cory Barlog (who’s well known for being fairly active on Twitter with fans) has revealed some pretty big pieces of information about where the series is headed.
One fan asked whether the reboot could be the start of a whole new saga or trilogy for Kratos, which Barlog pretty much flat out acknowledged.
Previously the God of War 4 director had also mentioned that the PS4 exclusive could let gamers play classic sequences from old games in the series.
Using the same way in which Naughty Dog allowed players to experience Crash Bandicoot in Uncharted 4, Balrog hasn’t ruled out the God of War studio remaking old levels with their new engine.
“Maybe [players could end up playing scenes from previous games in the new engine in God of War], I don’t know,” he said in an interview with with EPN dotTV (via GamingBolt).
In the same interview Barlog also compared the upcoming release to Resident Evil 4, and said he was happy for the game to be likened to fellow Sony exclusive The Last of Us.
