“Growing up with ACC presented numerous difficulties,” Richard recounts. He illustrates this with examples, noting, “While most children learn to ride a bicycle around age six, I was closer to 12 or 13.”
Activities like swimming also pose challenges due to muscle strain and heightened sensitivity to cold.
Richard shared his experiences with adversity: “I faced bullying and was placed in special education classes initially. However, by my senior year of high school, I needed those services far less. I was able to accomplish more.”
Indeed, Richard has surpassed expectations, achieving goals doctors once deemed impossible due to his condition.

Furthermore, despite initial expectations of a modified special education diploma, Richard earned a standard diploma by successfully completing all required assessments.

Richard credits his success, in part, to mastering the Rubik’s cube. “Doctors believed I shouldn’t be able to solve a Rubik’s cube,” he states, “but I overcame those odds.”
Richard can solve the complex color-matching puzzle in mere seconds. Introduced to the Rubik’s cube nearly two decades ago, he now boasts a collection of over 500 and is a respected figure within the Rubik’s cube community.
