Seiko Celebrates 60 Years of Dive Watch Innovation with New Prospex Releases
For six decades, Seiko has been at the forefront of dive watch technology since introducing Japan’s inaugural model. Commemorating 60 years of pioneering underwater timekeeping, Seiko unveils three new additions to its esteemed Prospex collection. These timepieces pay tribute to the brand’s rich heritage while showcasing cutting-edge advancements in dive watch design. The new releases include the robust Marinemaster, a silver-dialed homage to the 1965 diver’s watch, and a blue-dialed iteration reflecting the design of the 1968 classic.
Introducing the Marinemaster SLA081
The Marinemaster SLA081 emerges as a standout model within the anniversary collection. This exceptional timepiece boasts the new Caliber 8L45 mechanical movement and a high-integrity, one-piece titanium case. Engineered for professional divers, it offers remarkable water resistance up to 600 meters. The scratch-resistant stainless-steel bezel is enhanced with a diamond-like carbon coating for superior durability.
Advanced Movement and Construction
At the heart of the Marinemaster SLA081 lies the Caliber 8L45 movement, incorporating Seiko’s exclusive Spron titanium alloy. This material enhances longevity and resilience against damage, corrosion, and wear. The movement delivers a 72-hour power reserve and maintains precision within +10 to -5 seconds daily.
Professional-Grade Features
The inscription “PROFESSIONAL” proudly marks the dial, underscoring the watch’s purpose-built nature. An innovative L-shaped gasket is integrated into the case construction to prevent helium ingress, thus eliminating the need for a helium escape valve, a feature crucial for saturation diving.
Design Inspired by Seiko’s Legacy
Drawing inspiration from iconic Seiko dive watches, including the 1975 model, the Marinemaster’s design reflects a deep-sea aesthetic. A textured dial evokes the ocean depths, while a meticulously crafted finish accentuates the perception of depth. The titanium bracelet ensures both resilience and comfort, featuring rounded links for enhanced flexibility on the wrist.
