New Pornographers Drummer Joe Seiders Arrested on Child Pornography Charges
Palm Desert, CA – Joe Seiders, the drummer for the indie-rock group The New Pornographers, has been taken into custody on charges related to child pornography. The arrest of the musician occurred on April 9th following reports made to authorities.
Details of the Arrest
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement outlining the events that led to Seiders’ apprehension.
Initial Suspicion
According to the sheriff’s report, on Monday, April 7, 2025, at approximately 3:55 p.m., deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of suspicious activity in the 73000 block of Dinah Shore Drive in Palm Desert. Deputies spoke with an 11-year-old boy who reported that an adult male had used a cell phone to record him while he was in a restroom at that location.
Second Incident and Apprehension
Two days later, law enforcement received another call from the same business. An employee reported observing a man repeatedly entering and exiting the restroom with young boys. Suspecting this individual was the same suspect from the earlier incident, the employee contacted the police.
“Upon arrival, deputies located the suspect, identified as 44-year-old Joseph Seiders of Palm Desert, and took him into custody,” the Sheriff’s Office stated.

Following Seiders’ arrest, search warrants were executed at his residence, in his vehicle, and on his cell phone. Authorities reported that evidence discovered during these searches implicated the drummer in “the two reported incidents, along with additional alleged offenses, including possession of child pornography.”
Seiders was booked into jail in Indio. He faces multiple felony charges including possession of child pornography, annoying or molesting a child, invasion of privacy, and attempted invasion of privacy.
