Singer Lizzo recently displayed her apparent weight release in new Instagram photos, showcasing skimpy lingerie from her Yitty shapewear line. The “Truth Hurts” vocalist, 36, who has openly discussed her weight management journey since 2023, modeled striking pieces from her brand. This occurred shortly after the performer subtly criticized former President Donald Trump during a recent appearance on Saturday Night Live.

The Grammy Award-winning artist was pictured in a vibrant pink, lace bra and matching briefs as she posed for a mirror selfie in a spacious bathroom.

Lizzo, born Melissa Viviane Jefferson, captioned the images to her 11.7 million followers: “Smoothing lace is back @yitty.”

Weight Release Journey and Body Positivity

Earlier this year, in January, the artist, who has publicly refuted claims of using Ozempic, proudly announced reaching her weight goals.

She shared on Instagram: “I did it. Today when I stepped on my scale, I reached my weight release goal. I haven’t seen this number since 2014! Let this be a reminder you can do anything you put your mind to. Time for new goals!”

This month, during an episode of the “On Purpose With Jay Shetty” podcast, Lizzo clarified her preference for the term “weight release” instead of “weight loss.”

She credited her boyfriend, Myke Wright, explaining, “My man, he’s so funny. He was the one that brought it to my attention at first. Because at first I was like, ‘Oh my gosh I lost five pounds’ and he was like, ‘Where did it go?’ I was mad at him, I was like, ‘Why would he say that?’ but he was like, ‘Where did it go?'”

The “Good As Hell” hitmaker further elaborated that she does not aim to “lose anything” but rather to “gain.”

Lizzo conveyed, “I want to be very intentional about the words that come out of my mouth because there’s young people who are watching me and they’re experiencing what I’m putting into the world. They’re applying it to their own experience and their own life just like I did when I was a kid.”

The performer then spoke candidly about how media portrayal of “people who gained and lost weight” impacted her “brain chemistry.”

“Be careful with your words because it can affect somebody in ways you don’t even know,” she cautioned.

The artist added, “Even me releasing the weight has affected people and I take that seriously. I take that responsibility. And because of that I want to transmute it into something that makes people feel comfortable and less afraid of it.”

Addressing Ozempic Allegations

In a New York Times interview last March, Lizzo mentioned, “I’ve been methodical, losing weight very slowly.”

Regarding her body transformation, Lizzo admitted, “I don’t really see it because if anyone who’s on a natural weight-loss journey knows, losing weight is actually the slowest thing in the world and you don’t really notice it until you notice it.”

Last September, the artist also responded to “Ozempic allegations” in an Instagram post.

She shared a short video clip of herself in a colorful satin robe, her hair styled in a low updo.

Text at the bottom of the reel stated, “When you finally get ozempic allegations after 5 months of weight training and calorie deficit.”

Lizzo subsequently shared a screenshot of a social media comment accusing her of using Ozempic or “coke.”

SNL Performance and Political Commentary

The singer’s recent Instagram selfies emerged following her subtle jab at Donald Trump concerning his recent tariff implementations.

During her SNL performance, Lizzo sang her song “Still Bad.”

She donned micro shorts, fishnet leggings, and a cropped top emblazoned with “TARRIFIED” in red letters. An American flag was projected in the background during her performance.

Fan reactions on social media were mixed. Some supported Lizzo, with one X user writing, “LIZZO’S SHIRT SAYS ‘TARIFFIED’ OMG IM DEAD,” and another adding, “Okay this is iconic, idc what anyone says.”

However, dissenting opinions were also voiced, such as one user typing, “She needs to tariff some of that food she’s eating.”
