Attendees Removed from Marjorie Taylor Greene Town Hall Event in Georgia
During a town hall meeting held by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene in her Georgia district on Tuesday evening, several audience members were removed, and police deployed a stun device on two individuals. The contentious event highlights ongoing tensions surrounding political discourse and public gatherings.
Disruptions and Removals
Video footage from the event shows officers escorting a man, later identified as Johnny Keith Williams, to the ground before using a stun gun as he attempted to stand. The footage also captures some attendees cheering during the removals. The incidents occurred at a community center in Acworth, Georgia.
Greene’s Warning Against Protest
Congresswoman Greene had earlier cautioned the audience against protesting. Her remarks followed an initial interruption at the start of the town hall. She stated firmly, “This is a town hall; it is not a political rally or a protest. Anyone protesting, shouting, or chanting will be removed immediately, as demonstrated. Such behavior will not be tolerated.”
Arrests and Charges
According to a statement released by Acworth Police, officers faced threats, physical resistance, and injuries while removing three individuals: Johnny Keith Williams, 45, of Dallas; Andrew Russell Nelms, 40, of Atlanta; and Kiyana Davis, 28, of Dallas. All three were arrested for allegedly disrupting the public event.
Williams and Nelms face charges of simple battery against law enforcement and obstruction. Davis was arrested for using profane language.

Constituent Questions and Responses
The town hall format included a question-and-answer session where Greene addressed concerns submitted by constituents. Topics ranged from criticism of Elon Musk’s government efficiency initiatives and former President Donald Trump’s tariffs, to anxieties about potential reductions in Social Security and Medicaid.
Defense of Trump’s Agenda
When questioned about “reining in” former President Trump, Greene described the question as indicative of “brainwashing.” She declared her unwavering support for Trump, stating, “I am going to stand by my president, support my president, and advocate for his agenda.”
Escalating Interruptions
Throughout the event, numerous interruptions from disgruntled audience members punctuated the proceedings. Greene directly addressed these individuals as law enforcement officers removed them from the premises.
“The protest is taking place outside,” Greene retorted as another attendee was escorted away. “Goodbye, enjoy yourselves out there.”
Police Statement on Event Disruptions
The Acworth Police Department indicated that approximately half a dozen attendees were peacefully removed before the arrests. Crime analysts had also identified online posts suggesting potential disruptions prior to the town hall.
“Regrettably, soon after the Congresswoman commenced her presentation, several audience members became disruptive, posing an immediate public safety risk to everyone present,” the police department explained in their statement.
Outside Protests
Beyond the disturbances inside, additional individuals protested outside the community center venue.
Greene’s Post-Event Remarks
Following the contentious town hall, when asked if she would have acted differently regarding the forceful removals, Greene emphasized the support she received from the majority of attendees. “We must acknowledge that most people in the room were standing and cheering as those individuals were removed,” Greene stated. “Again, it was the protesters who were behaving inappropriately.”
Context of GOP Town Hall Concerns
Earlier, Rep. Richard Hudson, chair of the National Republican Congressional Committee, reportedly advised GOP lawmakers against hosting town halls after some Republicans faced criticism at similar events. These prior incidents involved attendee anger over potential government spending cuts and federal workforce reductions proposed by the Trump administration.
Police Acknowledged Peaceful Protests
In their statement, Acworth police also noted they “provided a designated area near the facility where numerous individuals peacefully exercised their constitutionally protected First Amendment rights.”
“It is disappointing that a very small number of individuals actively sought to temporarily disrupt what was otherwise a completely peaceful event,” they concluded.
