Singer Kesha Appears to Shade Katy Perry Amidst Space Flight Mockery
Pop vocalist Kesha seemingly targeted Katy Perry on Monday, posting a photo on social media platform X of herself drinking from a Wendy’s cup. This action followed the fast-food chain’s online ridicule of Perry’s recent space voyage.
Kesha’s Social Media Post Sparks Speculation
In the snapshot, the “Praying” performer, aged 38, is pictured smiling broadly while playfully biting a straw. She is seen wearing dark sunglasses and a plain white top.
Representatives for both Kesha and Perry have been contacted for their perspectives on the matter.
Underlying Tensions: Past Collaborations and Legal Battles
The apparent discord between Kesha and Perry, aged 40, seemingly originates from Perry’s professional collaboration with music producer Dr. Luke on her album “143.” Kesha initiated legal proceedings against Dr. Luke, 51, in 2014, alleging drugging and sexual assault at a party in 2005, in addition to years of emotional distress.
Dr. Luke, legally known as Lukasz Gottwald, has refuted these accusations. The prolonged legal dispute between the artists was resolved in June 2023.

Perry Defends Collaboration with Dr. Luke
Perry previously encountered criticism for working with Dr. Luke on her recent musical project. She addressed and defended this partnership in September 2024 during an interview on Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast.
“I acknowledge the conversations it initiated. He was among several collaborators on this project. However, ultimately, the creative direction is my own,” the “California Girls” singer stated.
“These songs originate from my personal journey and evolution. He was instrumental in facilitating this process, as one of the writers and producers involved,” she elaborated.
Wendy’s Joins Social Media Mockery of Perry’s Space Trip
Preceding Kesha’s recent tweet, Wendy’s social media account posted a message on X (formerly Twitter) mocking Perry and her all-female Blue Origin space mission.
“Can we send her back?” the fast-food brand questioned in response to a post stating, “Katy Perry has returned from space.”
In another tweet, replying to an image of Perry kissing the ground after her return to Earth, Wendy’s posted, “I kissed the ground and I liked it.”
After a user pointed out the brevity of Perry’s spaceflight, lasting only ten minutes, Wendy’s sardonically countered, “Don’t short change her, it lasted 11 minutes.”
Perry’s Space Mission and Reactions
Perry participated in Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin New Shepard 31 flight, accompanied by Bezos’ fiancée Lauren Sanchez, journalist Gayle King, NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, civil rights advocate Amanda Nguyen, and film producer Kerianne Flynn.
Perry’s blue spacesuit featured a firework symbol next to her name, referencing her hit song “Firework” from 2010. She also brought a daisy flower on the mission as a tribute to her 4-year-old daughter, named Daisy, with fiancé Orlando Bloom.
Perry, who performed “What a Wonderful World” while in space, shared with a reporter that she felt “profoundly connected to love” following the experience.
“This experience ranks second only to motherhood,” Perry expressed. “It was challenging to leave because my daughter represents my deepest love. I had to trust in the universe to safeguard me and my family.”
The Grammy-nominated artist further stated, “I am filled with gratitude for the gift of motherhood and the incredible opportunity to journey to space. I aimed to exemplify courage, worthiness, and fearlessness.”
Celebrity Criticism of Space Flight
Various personalities, including Amy Schumer, Olivia Wilde, Emily Ratajkowski, and Olivia Munn, voiced their disapproval of Monday’s space mission on social media platforms.
Ratajkowski, 33, described the space flight as “beyond parody” in a TikTok video. The model also accused Blue Origin of “uniquely contributing to the planet’s destruction.”
