Travis Kelce Trains with High School Football Players Ahead of NFL Season

As Travis Kelce gears up for his 13th NFL season, the Kansas City Chiefs’ star tight end recently joined young, aspiring athletes on the gridiron. The Super Bowl champion engaged in practice drills with a group of high school football players, demonstrating his commitment to the sport both on and off the professional field.

Super Bowl Champion Kelce Practices with Chamblee High School Team

Kelce, aged 34, participated in a practice session last week with football players from Chamblee High School. Following the workout, the Kansas City Chiefs standout posed for photos with the student athletes, capturing the moment.

“Had a productive training session with Travis Kelce this past week, gaining valuable insights from the Super Bowl legend,” Chamblee High School wide receiver Jazz Lewis shared on X, formerly Twitter, on Sunday, April 13.

Lewis is the son of Jamal Lewis, a former NFL running back who currently serves as the Director of College Recruiting for the high school team.

NFL Hall of Famer Ed Reed, a retired 8-time Pro Bowl safety, was appointed as Chamblee’s offensive coordinator in January. Reed’s son, Ed Reed III, is also a member of the Chamblee football program and will be a senior in the upcoming season.

Kelce Confirms Return to Kansas City Chiefs for Upcoming Season

In February, Kelce publicly announced his return for another season with the Chiefs, putting an end to speculation about potential retirement.

ESPN personality Pat McAfee initially reported Kelce’s decision on The Pat McAfee Show, reading a text message from the tight end live on air.

The text from Kelce stated, “My dawg!!! I’m coming back for sure. I’m gonna try to get to the best shape I’ve been this offseason and get back to the mountaintop. Got a real bad taste in my mouth with how I played in that last game and how I got the guys ready for battle.”

Reflecting on Super Bowl Performance and Future Goals

Kelce and the Chiefs suffered a 40-22 defeat against the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII. During the game, Kelce recorded four receptions for 39 yards, marking his least productive Super Bowl performance to date.

The tight end’s message to McAfee concluded with a determined statement: “I can’t go out like that!!!!”

Kelce further discussed his choice to return for another season on the March 5 episode of his “New Heights” podcast, co-hosted with his brother, Jason Kelce.

“I think the biggest thing is that I f***ing love playing the game of football,” Travis Kelce said. “I love playing, I still feel like I can play at a high level. And possibly at a higher level than I did last year, I don’t think it was my best outing. I let my guys down in a lot more moments than I helped them, especially if you look at my track record and how I’ve been in years past. I just, you know, I wanna give it a good run.”
