Jamie Redknapp Receives 12-Month Driving Ban for Speeding Offenses
Former Premier League footballer and current Sky Sports analyst Jamie Redknapp has been handed a 12-month driving ban after admitting to speeding. The ex-Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder entered a guilty plea prior to the court appearance and was also issued a financial penalty for the offenses.
Court Hearing and Guilty Plea
The case against Redknapp was addressed at Bexley Magistrates Court. Although Redknapp, now a well-known pundit for Sky Sports, did not attend the hearing in person, he had previously submitted a guilty plea. The incident that led to the initial charge involved him being caught by a speed camera driving at 26mph in a 20mph zone near Westleigh Avenue, Putney, in June 2024.
Second Speeding Offense and Court Decision
He further acknowledged exceeding the speed limit on the M4 motorway near Reading in November 2024, where he was recorded driving at 58mph in a 50mph zone. Bench chairwoman Daniele Spens stated, “As this is the second time for a similar offense, the defendant is disqualified from driving for twelve months, effective immediately. He is also required to pay the total fines and costs within twenty-eight days, and a collection order has been issued.”
Financial Penalty and Previous Disqualification
Redknapp was instructed to cover costs amounting to £608. The court session at Bexley Magistrates on Monday lasted for approximately 10 minutes. The court was informed that Redknapp had previously received a six-month driving ban in 2021.
Points Accumulation and Driving Record
The former England international, a resident of west London, had already accumulated 12 points on his driving license before incurring these two recent speeding violations last year.
