The fairytale romance of The Golden Bachelor couple, Theresa Nist and Gerry Turner, has concluded in separation just three months after their televised wedding. The pair, who captured hearts with their journey to find love again, revealed their decision to dissolve their marriage, citing irreconcilable differences regarding their living arrangements.
Swift Marriage Comes to an End
Despite initial plans to establish a shared residence in South Carolina, the couple, affectionately known for their shared love of the band Journey, found themselves unable to agree on a permanent home. Theresa, a New Jersey native, and Gerry, based in Indiana, ultimately determined that living apart was the most suitable path forward for both.
Conflicting Locations Contribute to Split
“The most significant aspect of our discussions has been our unwavering dedication to our respective families,” Gerry Turner disclosed during an appearance on Good Morning America. “Upon evaluating our circumstances, we concluded that maintaining separate residences would ultimately foster the individual happiness of both Theresa and myself.”
Theresa Nist concurred, stating, “We explored housing options in South Carolina and New Jersey, diligently searching for a suitable home. However, we were unable to reach a consensus on a final location.”
Deeper Issues at Play, Hints Theresa
Adding another layer to the narrative, Theresa Nist suggested that location was not the sole determinant in their separation. In a later conversation on the Almost Famous podcast in November 2024, she remarked, “The issue extends beyond mere location. It’s truly impossible to fully understand someone in a mere four weeks. I’ll simply leave it at that.”
Health Concerns Surface After Separation
Subsequently, in December 2024, Gerry Turner disclosed a diagnosis of Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia, a type of cancer, which he received prior to his separation from Theresa. Speaking with People, Gerry indicated that his health condition “significantly influenced my decisions and likely Theresa’s as well.”
However, Theresa clarified to the same publication that Gerry’s diagnosis “was not a contributing factor in her decision to end the relationship.”
