Sarah Millican Offered Record Prize on Celebrity Edition of ‘The Chase’

In a recent celebrity episode of ITV’s popular gameshow, The Chase, comedian Sarah Millican had the opportunity to win an unprecedented sum of prize money for charity. During her appearance, Millican displayed impressive quizzing skills, raising her team’s hopes of securing a substantial donation. Shaun Wallace, known on the program as “The Dark Destroyer,” served as the formidable Chaser tasked with preventing the celebrity contestants from winning.

Unprecedented Offer From The Chaser

When it was Wallace’s turn to present Millican with her cash offers, he proposed a modest low offer of £3,000. However, in a surprising twist, the high offer was a staggering £103,000.

Wallace remarked to Millican, “This is the highest offer I’ve ever made on Celebrity Chase.” Visibly astonished, Millican exclaimed in disbelief. Upon hearing the exact figure, the acclaimed comedian reacted with laughter at the enormity of the potential winnings.

Tough Challenge Against ‘The Dark Destroyer’

Despite a strong individual performance in her preliminary round, Millican was ultimately unsuccessful in outperforming the Chaser. Consequently, she returned to her team without adding to their prize fund.

The celebrity team, consisting of Ortis Deley, Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock, Graeme Hall, and Sarah Millican, collectively accumulated £100,000 as a potential jackpot. In the final round, the team faced a two-minute rapid-fire question session, tasked with answering as many general knowledge questions as possible. Success depended on whether they could outscore Shaun Wallace in his subsequent chase round.

Celebrities Lose Top Prize But Secure Charity Donations

Despite notable efforts from Millican and Deley, “The Dark Destroyer” swiftly surpassed their combined score.

However, in keeping with the charitable nature of the celebrity edition of The Chase, host Bradley Walsh announced that the participants would not depart empty-handed. Each celebrity contestant received £1,000 to contribute to their respective chosen charities.

Jokes and Banter On Set

Following Millican’s attempt to defeat the Chaser, Wallace playfully chided her for her comedic interjections during the gameshow. With a rare smile, Wallace quipped, “You’re a very funny lady. But I do the jokes around here.” Millican retorted with playful sass, “Sometimes. Not always,” adding to the lighthearted atmosphere of the celebrity special.
