Feud Claims: Loose Women Cast ‘Banned’ From Linda Nolan’s Funeral

The passing of singer and television personality Linda Nolan in January at age 65 due to pneumonia was a moment of profound sadness. However, a startling revelation has emerged, alleging that the Loose Women panel were prohibited from attending her funeral amidst a reported seven-year dispute. Notably absent from the memorial service were Brenda Edwards and Ruth Langsford, close associates of Coleen Nolan. This recent incident is not unprecedented for the ITV daytime program, which has faced previous allegations of discord among co-stars and reported off-screen tensions.

Background to the Alleged Fallout

The late entertainer Linda reportedly confided in friends concerning her experiences on the show following a notorious on-air altercation involving Kim Woodburn. Linda Nolan reportedly stood by her sister Coleen, a regular Loose Women contributor, during the fallout from a 2018 broadcast. This incident stemmed from Coleen’s participation in Celebrity Big Brother in 2017 with Kim Woodburn, where Coleen faced accusations of “bullying” from the former cleaning expert.

The Kim Woodburn On-Screen Spat

Subsequently, Kim Woodburn was invited onto the ITV lunchtime program purportedly to reconcile with Coleen. However, any prospect of amends evaporated when Kim Woodburn dramatically exited the set following a heated exchange.

This significant televised disagreement garnered approximately 8,000 complaints to Ofcom, with the Nolan sisters encountering considerable public criticism. The ensuing public reaction led to Coleen Nolan taking a hiatus from Loose Women.

Adding to the discord, Linda Nolan publicly stated she felt “ostracized” by the Loose Women team in the aftermath of the on-air confrontation.

Funeral Ban Allegations

An insider, speaking to a news publication, claimed: “Linda was unable to forgive the Loose Women team regarding the events that unfolded.”

“She deliberately decided to exclude anyone associated with the show from attending her funeral service. She meticulously arranged her own farewell prior to her demise, explicitly stating her desire for their absence.”

In 2023, Linda Nolan acknowledged a rift with Loose Women in an interview with a women’s magazine, stating: “I’ve had a disagreement with them. I received no apologetic communication from anyone, and I felt unfairly treated. We were manipulated into that situation.”

“While I have moved past it, I was saddened by the way I was treated.”

Linda Nolan did not make another appearance on Loose Women after her 2018 segment.

Family and Friends at the Service

Linda Nolan’s funeral was attended by her siblings, including Coleen, and other notable figures. Among those present were Coleen’s former spouse Shane Richie, comedian Tommy Cannon, children’s television personality Paul Chuckle, 911 singer Lee Brennan, and vocalist Lisa Maffia.

Linda Nolan’s Dark Humour Regarding Funeral Arrangements

Coleen Nolan had previously made lighthearted comments about Linda’s planned funeral guest list, relaying to a news outlet: “Linda envisions everyone in mourning attire, expressing profound grief.”

“Linda probably maintains a roster of individuals she wishes to exclude from her funeral – Linda has a lengthy list of people she dislikes!”

No Official Response

Representatives for Linda Nolan have not issued any statement on these claims.
