Denise Welch’s ‘Compulsive Flashing Disorder’ and Loose Women Co-stars’ Reaction
Loose Women star Denise Welch recently made a candid admission on the show’s podcast, sending ripples through her co-stars. Reflecting on past behaviour captured in “embarrassing” paparazzi images, the television personality, who has marked 13 years of sobriety, revealed a surprising detail about her party-going days. Welch disclosed a habit that prompted her Loose Women colleagues to request a change.
Candid Revelation on Loose Women Podcast
In a frank confession about what she described as a “medical issue,” Welch initially found the conduct “hilarious.” However, she acknowledged that she was often the only one amused. This tendency led to “embarrassing” photographs taken by paparazzi, ultimately leading her Loose Women co-stars to suggest a modification in her actions due to a rather specific concern.
Co-stars’ Underwear Plea
Welch explained: “I always considered I had a medical issue, which I termed ‘compulsive flashing disorder’. When I was out socializing, I – usually alone in my amusement – thought it was funny to expose my bra. Numerous paparazzi shots, now mortifying to look back on, exist of me flashing my bra. The women on Loose Women would say, ‘Denise, because of your ‘compulsive flashing disorder’, could you please just invest in some quality underwear because it was invariably awful.'”
The former Coronation Street actress further admitted that her bras were consistently “grey, beige,” conceding that while she may imagine herself as someone akin to an Agent Provocateur model, she is “sadly” not. Welch, who reportedly turned to alcohol as a coping mechanism for clinical depression, has openly discussed her battles with alcohol addiction. Last year, she revealed a health incident that nearly jeopardized her hard-won sobriety.
Sobriety Scare Recounted
Speaking on the ADHD Chatter podcast, Welch shared an experience that contradicted her expectations, as previously reported.
She recounted her thought process: “I thought, ‘I’m going to take this medication, and by the time I leave our London apartment, I will have vacuumed everywhere and finally addressed the mountain of tasks I’ve ignored since I was 18.'”
However, she confessed a disturbing consequence: “Within an hour, I craved a drink and a cigarette for the first time in 11 years. It was incredibly alarming how it affected me. Had I not been so many years into sobriety and secure in my management of it, it could have been a very perilous turning point.”
Views on ‘Vanessa’ Show
Separately, the actress, known for her role in ‘Soldier Soldier’, shared her sentiments in an interview with Heat magazine regarding the competition Loose Women faces from Vanessa Feltz’s new Channel 5 programme, ‘Vanessa’.
Welch extended best wishes to Vanessa, while acknowledging she had not yet had the opportunity to watch the show herself.
