In their public statement on Sunday, Brett and Jessica Gardner expressed that ‘many questions remain’ concerning Miller’s unexpected passing.
‘It is with profound sadness that we announce the loss of our youngest son, Miller,’ they conveyed.
‘At the young age of 14, he has left us prematurely after becoming ill along with several other family members during a vacation… We are left with numerous questions and few answers currently, but we are certain he passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Friday, March 21st.’
Yankees Community Mourns
Brett Gardner, 41, spent 14 seasons with the Yankees, from 2008 to 2021, and was a key member of their 2009 World Series championship team. He was widely regarded within the organization and developed strong bonds with figures like Aaron Judge.
Yankees figures Aaron Boone and Joe Girardi have expressed deep sorrow upon hearing the tragic news.
‘We frequently speak of being a family, and that bond persists even after Brett’s departure a few years ago,’ current team manager Boone stated to reporters, as reported by the New York Post.
‘Numerous individuals in the clubhouse have close connections with the family. It is a profoundly sad day and devastating news.’
