The Crown star details three words Prince William actor shared during filming

The Crown star Elizabeth Debicki has detailed the three words Rufus Kampa and Fflyn Edwards uttered to her while filming.

The actress has praised her young co-stars who play teenager Prince William and Prince Harry in the upcoming season six of the Netflix series.

Touching on whether the young actors had an understanding of who Princess Diana was, Elizabeth explained: “They did. They were really extraordinary, their capacity to carry, just like an adult actor, to carry layers of stories.

“There’s always an awareness of where you’re heading and playing against something, and they did that very naturally.

“Robert, the casting director, is a casting genius, and when I met these kids, there’s just an essence. Their energy was perfect, and they were very, very open and very kind souls.

“It sounds very reductive to say they’re being themselves, but they really were so open and natural. They allowed a lot of themselves to come through.”

Addressing the young actor’s reply to filming the dramatic scenes, Elizabeth continued: “Their response to things, and what you see in the show is very real, in a way.

“I think it was difficult for them, at times they would say, it ‘was so weird’ that they’ve been playing scenes after Diana’s passing.

“Then suddenly I’m there saying, ‘like, who wants a sandwich?’ I think for them, they really had to navigate a lot of that, and I think they did an extraordinary job.”

The final season of the highly anticipated series is said to have been divided into the events of the late 1990s and early 2000s.

There haven’t been many details yet on how they plan to depict the Princess’ death, but Elizabeth previously confirmed that the car crash would not be included in the storytelling.

Starring alongside Elizabeth is Dominic West as Prince Charles, Olivia Williams as Camilla Parker Bowles and Meg Bellamy as Kate Middleton.

Prince Harry will be played by Luther Ford, with Will Powell as the younger Prince Harry and Khalid Abdalla as Dodi Fayed.

The first part, according to the synopsis, will “depict a relationship blossoming between Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed before a fateful car journey has devastating consequences”.

It continues: “The final chapter is told across six episodes (Part 2). Prince William tries to integrate back into life at Eton in the wake of his mother’s death as the monarchy has to ride the wave of public opinion.

“As she reaches her Golden Jubilee, the Queen reflects on the future of the monarchy with the marriage of Charles and Camilla and the beginnings of a new Royal fairytale in William and Kate.”

The Crown Season 6 Part 1 launches on Netflix, November 16, followed by part 2 on December 14.
