England head coach Steve Borthwick will seek to ward off the threat of a fourth successive Test defeat by naming a powerful side to face Wales at Twickenham on Saturday.
Owen Farrell is set to return as the starting 10 and captain of a reinforced Red Rose line-up which is likely to feature fellow Saracens Billy Vunipola, Maro Itoje, Jamie George and Farrell.
For Vunipola, it will be a first appearance since April, signalling the completion of the No 8’s recovery from knee surgery.
Also expected to feature in the England XV are Racing 92-bound former London Irish flier Henry Arundell and Bath centre Ollie Lawrence. The hosts will be seeking to turn the tables on their great rivals after a 20-9 defeat in the reverse fixture in Cardiff last Saturday, in the first of four World Cup warm-ups.
Borthwick is under pressure to turn England’s fortunes around after three straight defeats.
